Among Christians loving one's neighbour is often related to social commitment and philanthropy. Mostly under reference to the Bible story of The Good Samaritan. Those who study this Bible passage carefully will discover that the Samaritan showing mercy on the victim is a type of Jesus Christ. He brings everybody who trusts Him (= believes in Him) to heaven (the inn), cares for them and loves them. He came to save victims. Neither the priest nor the lawyer were able to do that. True believers love Him who gave them eternal life. He proved to be their neighbour.
